Project Summary
Created as the signature moment of El Segundo's yearlong centennial celebration, Celebrate! was designed to foster civic pride while positioning the city as a vibrant destination through a large-scale shared experience.
The Challenge
The city wanted more than a traditional fireworks display. The goal was to create a large-scale experience that celebrated El Segundo's history, reinforced community identity, and created a memorable shared moment for residents and visitors alike.
Creative Approach
Jeff Cason Designs led the development of a 15-minute story-driven nighttime spectacular built around a simple narrative: a small city with global influence.
Original music, custom narration, projection mapping, animation, lighting, and pyrotechnics were designed as one cohesive experience—balancing emotional storytelling with large-scale visual impact.
A key creative challenge involved integrating recognizable organizations including Mattel, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the L.A. Kings into the narrative while maintaining a cohesive story rather than a collection of branded moments.
